Tallahassee, FL – Tallahassee Auctioneer and founder of Aaron Joseph & Company, LLC, Joseph F. Kikta, GPPA, CES, was recently appointed to the board of directors for the Florida Auctioneers Association. Kikta will serve the remaining term for Roy Strickland, who could not complete his term of office. Kikta had previously served as a member of the Association’s Legislative Committee, and will now co-chair that committee. Kikta began his auction career in 1984 with Auction Company of America, based in Miami, Florida. Auction Company of America has the distinction of holding Auction Business license number 1 (AB1) in the state of Florida, due in large part to the efforts of owner, Jim Gall, CAI, in the establishment of the Florida Auction Law. Gall personally holds Auctioneer License number 2 (AU2) in the State of Florida, and later served on the Florida Board of Auctioneers, the oversight board for the Auction Profession established by Florida Law. It is then no wonder that Kikta continues to work on legislative initiatives to maintain high ethical standards in the Auction Industry.

“It is an honor to be asked by my fellow Auctioneers to serve on the Board of Directors for our Association,” said Kikta, “The association brings together the most talented and ethical members of our profession in the State.” Kikta sees his role as a member of the Board of Directors and co-chair of the Legislative Committee as an active role. His firm, Aaron Joseph & Company, LLC plays host to the Association’s annual Legislative Day on the Hill, in Tallahassee. Kikta sees opportunities in the upcoming legislative session. “There are critical areas of the Florida Statutes that relate to the Auction Profession that need to be looked at, such as Secondhand Dealer Reporting, and the lack of regulation for Virtual Auctions,” said Kikta, “By reaching out to the law enforcement community, and jointly drafting proposed legislation, we hope to have a bill ready for sponsorship this fall.”

About the Florida Auctioneers Association

The Florida Auctioneers Association (FAA) was established in 1967 to allow a medium for the professional Auctioneer to stay abreast of the latest auction procedures, education, license law changes and other events that would affect the auction profession, and to develop and promote the highest standards of business ethics, equitable trade practices and lawful acts among its members and the Auction profession.
